Ten are needed to race a Farr 40 to bring the crew up to the maximum total weight of 760kg. Here’s our current line up.

Martin Hill

Skipper Martin established Estate Master and the Sailing Team. Among his numerous sailing credits are ’06 Sydney 38 National champion & Middle Harbour YC Commodore.

Lisa Hill

Lisa, the co-skipper, takes very good care of the ‘pit’ area of the boat, managing halyards, sheets and braces with aplomb. Lisa has an excellent focus when racing.

Malcolm Page AO
Malcolm and skipper Nathan Wilmot won 5 world titles in the 470. They finished their dinghy careers together with a superb win at the Olympics with a race to spare! Mal has since teamed up with Matt Belcher and together won the 2010 470 Worlds. Pagey is chief trimmer on EM.

Tom Slingsby

Tom is 3-time Laser World Champion, 2010 World sailor of the year as well as an Etchells World Champion. He scored a 2nd place at the 2010 Farr 40 Worlds aboard Transfusion and now expertly calls the shots on Estate Master.

Darren Jones AO

Better known as simply Twirler, this man has won Worlds in Farr 40, Mumm 30, Swan 45 and M30 classes. With added experience in Sydney-Hobart, Transpac and America’s Cup, Twirler has a wealth of experience in making yachts go fast.

Nathan Outteridge
Nathan survived a head-on collision with a tree and months of rehabilitation to win the ’08 and ’09 49er Worlds as well as the 2010 Moth Europeans and 2011 Moth Worlds. A super talent, Nathan is Strategist.

Aby Ehler

Aby is extremely well-credented as EM bow person. Claims to fame include sailing around the world and winning the Farr 30 Australian Championship!

Russel Ely

Rusty pulls up the sails whenever we go around a mark, so needs to bring on a whoosh of might and power when the time is right.

Dean Curtis

Deano has experience on a wide range of yachts and his focus, skill and determination are legendary. Dean does the bow and generally is the first of the crew to get wet!

Michael Blackburn


Michael, the ’06 Laser World Champion has a PhD in Sports Science. He works as coach with the Australian Sailing Team and also coaches this team.
